A walnut and marquetry longcase clock
The flat top hood (converted) with spiral-twist pilasters and glazed side panels, with moulded frame to the floral marquetry inlaid trunk door, lenticle glass, on stepped plinth (hood and plinth re-built, case re-veneered), the 10in. square brass dial with later winged cherub mask and foliate spandrels to the silvered chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and also with half quarter hour markers, matted centre with date aperture, ringed winding holes and silvered subsidiary seconds ring, later hands, the five pillar (one later) movement with internal countwheel strike on bell (built-up seatboard); composite, case, dial and movement associated, late 17th century and later -- 83in. (212cm.) high
