Rectangular, formed as a book fastening with a reeded gold pencil, the covers set with Japanese lacquer panels in reeded gold mounts, one depicting a lady performing tea ceremony surrounded by exotic birds and foliage, the second depicting a lady preparing food also surrounded by exotic foliage, the inner covers lined with pale blue silk, interior with printed paper calendar for the year 1727 with days of the week, days of the saints, and phases of the moon, marked on spine and inside border with discharge mark of Charles Cordier; also with later Dutch and French control marks
