A SEVRES LATER DECORATED CUP AND A SAUCER (GOBELET 'LITRON' ET SOUCOUPE, 3EME GRANDEUR)
Blue interlaced L's mark enclosing date letter A for 1753-1754, unidentified painter's mark, the ground colour and gilding of later date
Gilt with a loose bouquet to the center, the rim and cup with gilt scrolling foliage and diaper trellis, reserved with panels of flowers

Lot Essay

The ground colour and stiffly ordered gilding on the present cup and saucer are typical of Svres produced ten years later than the Vincennes mark found on these pieces. The unidentified painter's mark of a large dot is found on pieces painted with flowers between 1756 and 1757.
