The dial signed CHARLES LE ROY A PARIS, circa 1765
The circular glazed enamelled dial with both Roman and Arabic numerals and signed CHARLES LE ROY A PARIS, within a domed case flanked to each side by female terms with guilloche-panelled scrolled volute supports, flanked to the outside by acanthus scrolls and surmounted by a laurel-swagged Neoclassical urn supported on a moulded socle and entrelac bow-fronted plinth, the pierced tapering case with a further dished entrelac panel above a tapering acanthus boss and fruiting oak and acorn finial, the movement signed to the reverse Ch. Le Roy AParis, with associated Apollo-mask pendulum

A virtually-idetical cartel, but with crossed-branches below the dial instead of an acanthus scroll and the movement by Pat, is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Encyclopdie de la Pendule Franaise, Paris, 1997, p. 192, fig.B.
