Lot Essay

In 1911, Shonnard moved to Paris to study under Rodin and Bourdelle. She remained there for several years, exhibiting at the Paris Salons from 1911-1923. The model for Le Chat, exhibited at the Salon of 1922, is typical of the animal subjects for which she is best known.
