printed and manuscript on paper in English and Hindi, including: a declaration of a portion land in the city of Surat to be subject to municiple tax, 14 November 1872 AD - 49 x 38cm.; a forty-five rupee form of several pages, showing George V, stamped by the registrar of Surat, dated 1933 - 40.5 x 22cm.; a 200 rupee form showing Edward VIII, Surat, 1943 - 34 x 21.5cm. Lot Essay

In parts of the British Empire forms and stamps had been printed in advance of Edward VIII's coronation. Although the king was never crowned, occasionally some of the forms were nevertheless used rather than wasted.
