Persian manuscript on paper, each folio with 19ll. of elegant black nasta'liq in four columns, gold divisions, green and gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, headings in red, gold and polychrome illuminated heading panel at start, several spaces left for illustration, ONE ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION showing Alexander hunting, two later illustrations, probably Qazvin, dated Shawwal AH 994/1585-6 AD, later maroon morocco binding with gold tooling, marbled paper doublures, opening flyleaf with seal impressions and ownership inscriptions, (some corrosion to margins, occasional repairs, light waterstaining to edges) - 27 x 17cm. Lot Essay
The flyleaf has the seal impression of I'timad Khan, librarian to Shah Jehan 1653-1657 AD. One of the inscriptions was written in Agra in AH 1011/1602-3 AD.
