The brother of Darwin D. Martin, Buffalo, New York, William E. MArtin was first in the family to commission Wright to build for him. A visit to his brother's house and a tour of Oak Park, Illinois led Martin to the Larkin building commission and to Darwin Martin's residential commission, both in Buffalo. It was not until 1909 that the splendid pergola was added to the William Martin house as shown here above.
