the case with gilt-metal handle to the inverted bell top, glazed sides and later pierced wood quarter frets to the doors, the dial signed John May, Witney, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter rings with pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with calendar apeture and now filled mock pendulum aperture, scrolling foliate spandrels and strike/silent ring in the arch (later hand), the six pillar twin chain movement with later anchor escapement and strike on bell, the backplate similarily signed within profuse foliate engraving; later securing brackets
