Lot Essay

George Morrell wrote and illustrated articles on the planets and their orbits within the Solar system. The present watercolour was executed for reproduction in The Graphic in the 1910 October edition and depicts the rings of Saturn at their widest for that year observed from London as if it were on Saturn.
