Circular, with openwork trellis borders and molded rims, with hinged open scroll side handle, the hinged cover with openwork scrolls and taper aperture with sliding cover, the base engraved with the lozenge-of-arms of a lady within floral festoons and tied ribbon and inscribed The Gift of Mary Carpenter to her Nephew Philip Roe, In Memory of a Friend Wm. Chas Lock, marked under cover and on base with maker's mark--2 1/4in. (5.7cm.) diameter
