Lot Essay

Franois-Joseph Aloncle was active at Svres as a painter of birds, animals, and landscapes, 1758-1781. The mark of a cottage that appears on the saucer was ascribed in the 19th century to J.-J. Antheaume but there is no archival evidence to support the attribution. It appears on wares painted with landscapes and dated 1757-1758.
