A MACEDONIAN TYPE GOLD FIBULA
CIRCA 330-300 B.C.
The arched bow with six flanged 'wheels', the hinge-plate in the form of a granulated and beaded wire palmette above a star, the catch-plate with two gold spools, two filigree rosettes and punched circle decoration, traces of bronze pin, 1¾ in. (4.4 cm.) across; a gold disc pendant with relief female head wearing earrings surmounted by ribbed suspension loop, 1 in. (2.5 cm.) diam.; a pair of filigree and granulated gold earring pendants each in the form of a club of Herakles, one end missing, 1.1/8 in. (2.8 cm.) long max.; and five hollow gold spherical beads (one crumpled), all circa 4th Century B.C. (9)
