EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800)

Of slender, attenuated ovoid form rising from the splayed foot to the wide, upright rim and moulded with a scrolling handle and gently curved spout, decorated principally in iron-red with highlights of green and yellow enamel with a central phoenix medallion and an opposite mythical beast medallion bordered by a necklace pattern of florets, the foot decorated with waves, chevrons and a band of simply drawn dragons below bands of lappets and chevrons at the base of the body, further chevrons or lappets on the neck and handle along with bbreviated floral pendants, green enamel lining the interior of the mouth--10 in. (25.4 cm.) high, minute rim and spout chips
