A SOLOMON ISLANDS FLOAT

In the form of a stylized frigate bird with curved body, prominent rounded head, projecting beak, surmounted by a bonito fish form, supported on a right angled element coming from the center of the bird's back, the entire object inlaid with bands of geometrically cut mother of pearl X-shaped ornaments, square hole drilled through the center of the base, traces of red pigment, 21¼in. (54cm.) long
