D.C.M. London Gazette 18.2.1919 'During the attack on Limont Fontaine and Eclalbes on 7 November 1918, he showed conspicuous gallantry and rendered invaluable service. When the village had been partially rushed, and isolated bands of the enemy remained, he pushed on with the Lewis-Gun posts and covered the right flank of the advance maintaining his position until the objective was eventually carried and consolidated'.
