The drum case surmounted by the figure of an amorino reclining on flowers, a further drum below with bifurcating scroll handles to the sides, resting on a plinth with scroll sides mounted on a slightly chamfered white marble rectangular base, with floral swag mount to the front, on part-engraved waisted feet, with white enamel Roman time dial signed MARTIN BASKETT & CO. PARIS, black painted trefoil hands, above white enamel calendar dial with concentric rings for month, date and day of week, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell, with repeat signature to the backplate -- 13¾in. (35cm.) high; on ebonised plinth and under glass dome (cracked)
