AN UNUSUAL IRON-RED PART DINNER-SERVICE
circa 1790
Each piece enamelled in deep and light tones with a wide variety of central scenes, depicting figures at leisure on terraces, including dignitaries, scholars, ladies, children, musicians, fan-bearers and other attendants, within a band of hatched-pattern and a broad band of landscape and bird vignettes reserved on a densely scrolling foliage ground, comprising:
An oval soup-tureen, cover and stand with gilt entwined berried strap handles and flower-head finial, the stand 14½ in. (37 cm.) wide
Two rectangular vegetable tureens and covers with gilt fruit finials,
10 in. (25.5 cm.) wide
An oval mazarin and pierced strainer, 16 in. (40.5 cm.) wide
An oval dish, 16 in. (40.5 cm.) wide
A pair of deep oval dishes, 12½ in. (32 cm.) wide
A pair of deep oval dishes, 11 in. (28 cm.) wide
Fifteen plates, 9¾ in. (25 cm.) diam.
