In 1908 the city of Pittsburg declared July 17th Honus Wagner Day. Pirate fans made contributions with a minimum amount of one dollar per individual and raised over six hundred dollars that went toward the purchase of this beautiful watch. It is a Jules Jurgensen 18 karat gold minute repeating keyless lever openface pocketwatch with nickel lever movement, bi-metallic compensation balance repeating on two gongs, the white enamel dial with black enameled Arabic chapters and hands, subsidiary seconds within a plain gold case with engraved monogram JHW for John Honus Wagner, opening to reveal the inscription To Hans Wagner from the Friends and Admirers, Pittsburgh, July 17, 1908, gold cavette, repeating slide in the band, dial, case and movement signed, with an original fitted wooden box and certificate and an extra crystal.
