1928 CHAMPIONSHIP BASEBALL SPALDING TROPHY
Beautifully detailed silver-plated Spalding trophy affixed to a painted black wooden base. A uniformed player poised to catch a ball as he stretches towards the ground with outstretched arms. He is depicted a top a monument style platform, where on the side a Spalding baseball centered over two crossed bats appears between the words "Spalding Trophy."5 The baseball is engraved to the trophy's recipiant "BACHMANN ENMERICH & CO INC CHAMPIONS 1928.". The trophy has tarnished from age with many areas of paint missing from its base. The player's right foot has broken away from the metal platform. As a result, a crack appears about its left ankle which now supports it. The player remains standing from internal support constructed within this area. Two small holes also appear on the platform near the right foot. It is not known if anything is missing.
