of bronzed white metal and silver depicting a Bleriot monoplane mounted on clouds above the timepiece with the French and English coasts separated by the Channel below with lighthouses, buildings and shipping, the base with signature X.Raphael, the rear with embossed plaque inscribed Fabrication Francaises Made in France surrounding a crucible in a fire above Paris, the whole mounted on an ebonised wood plinth with brass plate engraved Bleriot 25 Juillet 1909 and Déposé, mounted on four pad feet, overall -- 16¼ x 15½in. (41.3 x 39.4cm.)
