A pair of illustrated Shahnameh leaves, by Mu'in Musawwir,
gouache heightened with gold on paper, one showing Iskander appraoched by Elias and Khizr, the king on horseback accompanied by 5 courtiers, lines of black nasta'liq in gold clouds in four columns above and below, gold margins and divisions between black rules, outer margin filled with text written diagonally, the second showing Rustam fighting the white div, lines of text and a heading in red above, marginal markers on each leaf with one of the names of God, each framed and glazed, each signed in miniscule script below by Mu'in Musawwir, Iran, Isfahan, circa 1650 - leaf 35 x 21.3cm., text panel 29 x 14.5cm.
