signed on the silvered compass dial TROUGHTON & SIMMS, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, spider web adjusters, the axis with 6in. vertical circle, bubble level, twin verniers and magnifiers, raised on twin A-frame supports over the horizontal plate, the compass with edge-bar needle and clamp, with level and cross bubble arranged over the enclosed horizontal circle, with twin verniers and magnifiers, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, on three-screw tripod attachment -- 14½in. (37.1cm.) high
