THREE KISERUZUTSU [PIPECASES]
Edo period (19th century)
A black persimmon pipecase carved in relief and encrusted in gilt metal, lacquer and shell with lions and peonies, unsigned; a stagshorn pipecase encrusted in silver and gilt with a pipe-smoking peasant leading a loaded pack-horse, unsigned; and a black persimmon pipe case carved in low relief with patterns of concentric roundels embellished with cloisonné enamel and gilt plaques, the stopper with a horn handle similarly decorated, butt-piece of shibuichi with gilding, engraved with zodiac animals on fan shapes, with signature Somin (some old damage)
