AN IRON TSUBA INSCRIBED MASAYOSHI AND TWO OTHERS
Edo period (19th century)
An iron mokko-shaped tsuba carved and inlaid in silver and gold with a hawk chasing a chidori over waves, with signaure Masayoshi, 8.5cm.; a shakudo tsuba carved and inlaid in shakudo, shibuichi and two colours of gold with two men, carrying sheaves of rice, with signature Furukawa Motoyoshi, 7.1cm.; and a brass tsuba carved and inlaid with a fox-woman leaning on a bamboo stick watching a trap, while on the reverse a farmer crouches between two stooks of rice watching her, with signature Ryusai ?oki, 7.9cm.
