A TACHI BLADE IN THE STYLE OF KOGARASUMARU
Mei: Shinto ju Hamuro Morikuni - Minamoto Yasunao no konomi ni ojite Kogarasumaru motte shasaku and dated Tenpo 7 [1836]
The blade kogarasu-zukuri, iorimune, toriizori, masamehada with ji-nie, suguha hamon of nioi, naginata hi and a full length narrow hi, ubu nakago, 24¾in. (62.6cm.); in its brown ishimeji lacquer saya with a cloud design overall and decorated in gold lacquer with a ho-o bird and foliage, matching iron tachi mounts chiselled with clouds, gilt details, shakudo and gilt menuki of kiku (tsuba lacking)
