AN AIKUCHI BLADE ASCRIBED TO KANESADA IN SILVERED MOUNTS, A SILVER MOUNTED WAKIZASHI AND ANOTHER
The first blade, hirazikuri, iorimune, musori, ko-itamehada with ji-nie, gunome hamon of nie with a wide habuchi and muneyaki, a horimono of a suken in a koshi-bi on the omote, gomabashi on the ura, ubu nakago (cleaned), mei: Kanesada, 16th/17th century, 9½in. (24cm.); in its bark textured silvered mounting, silvered menuki formed as kiku, a similar kanamono on the saya, copper kozuka formed as a bridge post, 19th century; the second blade, honzukuri, iorimune, torii zori with extended chugissaki, nagare itamehada with ji-nie, gunome hamon of nie with ashi and sunagashi, pointed o-maru boshi, bo-hi both sides, ubu nakago, mei: Noshu ju Kanefusa, 16th century, 193/8in. (49.4cm.); in its black lacquer saya decorated with gilt ho-o birds, silver fuchi-kashira carved with waves, iron tsuba with foliage in copper hirazogan, copper menuki of fishing rods and baskets, sentoku kozuka carved with waves, inscribed Omori Eishu, gilt copper kurikata formed as a dragon's head, 19th century; and a gunto (3)
