A Meissen chinoiserie teabowl and saucer
Circa 1728, puce enamel crossed swords mark to teabowl and blue enamel crossed swords mark to saucer, Dreher's to both pieces
Painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt, the teabowl with four panels of Orientals, one with a whisk, another with a parasol, another with a fan before a kettle and another with a tray of teapots by flowering plants divided by concave gilt ribs, the interior with a diaper and flowerhead roundel, the saucer with a dignitary seated reading at a table, his attendant before him within an elaborate quatrefoil Böttger lustre panelled gilt, iron-red and puce scroll, flower and diaper cartouche, the underside with iron-red trailing flowers (rubbing to gilt rims and slight rubbing to cartouche of saucer and chip to inside of footrim)
