Gola Islander

Lamb visited the tiny island of Gola off the coast of Donegal in 1912 and 1913. His many sketches of the islanders resulted in his monumental painting, Fisherfolk, Gola Island (1913; private collection, see K. Clements, Henry Lamb 1883-1960, Manchester City Art Gallery exhibition catalogue, 1984, no. 30, p. 31, illustrated p. 25).
