With original white marble top, above a stiff-leaf frieze with centre mask amidst foliate scrolls, on boldly modelled cabriole legs with conforming stretchers, stamped JAMES YATES, ROTHERHAM, REGISTERED MARCH 22, 1842, NO.1148

Lot Essay

Yates' firm at Effingham Works, Rotherham, having merged with J.Haywood and Co., received considerable praise for their work at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in Hyde Park.
