AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED TYRRHENIAN NECK-AMPHORA
attributed to the castellani painter, circa 550 b.c.
The obverse with a symposium, each couch with a reclining male and female banqueteer, with tables bearing food in front; the reverse with six dancing komasts; two friezes below, the upper with a pair of confronting cocks between a pair of sirens on the obverse, and a pair of rams facing out towards two panthers with their heads turned frontal on the reverse, the lower with a goat between panthers on the obverse and a panther between goats on the reverse; with rays above the foot, tongues on the shoulders, a lotus and palmette cross on the neck; details in added red and white
