AN AMERICAN SILVER THREE-PIECE TEA SET
Apparently unmarked, early 19th Century
Comprising teapot, covered two-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each piece with a globular body, fluted at the lower portions, and raised on four heavy paw and ball feet with leaves at the knees, the shoulder and upper border with applied foliate bands, and the loop handles heavily clad with acanthus leaves; the teapot with a leaf-clad curved spout terminating in a stylized animal head at the tip, and the teapot and sugar bowl each with a domed cover, chased with acanthus leaves surrounding a tall central flower-filled basket finial. Each piece engraved with a coat-of-arms above initials.
