Collation: +6 a-g8 h6 i4 A-O8 (+1r title, +1v author's address to Petrus Barocius, Bishop of Padua, +2r summary of contents, including list of letters, name of addressee and 2-word incipit, a1r blank, a1v Beroaldus's letter to the reader, a2r author's dedication to Cardinal Giovanni de'Medici, a3r dialogues and orations, 4-line incipit printed in red, A1r letters, O8r colophon, register, printer's device (Kristeller 5), O8v blank). 184 leaves. 35 lines, shoulder notes. Type: 1:112R. 3- to 7-line initial spaces with guide-letter. (Wormholes in first and final quires discreetly filled.) 18th-century red morocco, narrow gilt roll on sides, gilt spine, leather spine label, marbled endleaves, gilt edges (spine faded). Second edition. Abbot of the Austin Canons at Fiesole, Bosso was a Neoplatonist and member of Ficino's Platonic Academy, which reputedly met at the Badia at Fiesole under Bosso's tenure. He enjoyed the patronage of Lorenzo de'Medici, who insisted that Bosso be at Fiesole when Giovanni de'Medici was made cardinal; the present edition is dedicated to Giovanni.
