3 works in one volume, the first in 6 parts (319 x 209mm). General title to Becanus, title to each part and each work, all with a Plantin device, engraved portrait of Becanus with epitaph in woodcut architectural frame on verso, woodcut arms of the dedicatee in two parts (II: Gaspar Studler; III: Arnold Fleming), the Hieroglyphica with 2 full-page engravings, 2 text engravings, and numerous woodcut text illustrations pertaining to ancient Egypt, woodcut illustrations to part 5 and the Genealogiae. Roman, italic, Greek and Hebrew types. (Some spotting and browning, heavier in parts 4 and 5, and last two works.) Late 17th- or early 18th-century Parisian red morocco BOUND FOR THE COMTE DE LOMéNIE DE BRIENNE, with his arms [Oliver 1077, fer 4] on sides, gilt spine, gilt edges (repaired tear on front cover, head and foot of spine slightly worn). Provenance: Henri-Louis or André-Louis, comte de Loménie de Brienne (1658-1743, binding).

FIRST EDITION of these philological works, published posthumously, and FIRST EDITION of the chronicle of Burgundy by Heuterus. With state A of general title (reading ANTWERPIAE) and a rare variant engraved portrait, showing the author in a bust portrait with 4 lines of letterpress verse by B. Arias Montanus below (not recorded by Voet, but see Labore et Constantia 239). Preliminary leaves of first part differ slightly from Labore 237, consisting of: part title, 11-page letter by Montanus, 13-page register, and 1-page privilege. The Genealogiae ends on p. 99, p. 100 being blank. Labore et Constantia 237-239, 245, 246.
