8° (191 x 115 mm). Engraved portraits of the dauphin (the dedicatee), the translator and the author, all by Gaucher, engraved portrait of Louis XVI, Louis XVII and Marie-Antoinette in bistre pasted to verso of last (blank) page. Contemporary French black morocco, triple gilt fillet round sides with corner fleurons, at centre the arms of Louis XVI as dauphin [Olivier 2528, cf. fer 3], spine gilt in compartments with red leather label, gilt turn-ins, fine Dutch or German floral gilt endpapers, gilt edges (minor repairs at corners).

SPECIALLY BOUND FOR PRESENTATION FROM THE DEDICATEE, Louis XIV as dauphin.
