A Caucasian Shasqua
Late 19th Century
With slightly curved single-edged blade back-edged towards the point, the forte cut on each side with two narrow fullers and struck with a mark containing the maker's name 'Qalin (?)' in Arabic, the rest of its length with three further fullers, the hilt encased in nielloed silver engraved with flowers and foliage, in original wooden scabbard covered in crimson velvet (velvet worn) with nielloed silver mounts decorated en suite with the hilt, and with two rings for suspension
