Caspar Zellner (1661-1745), a member of the large Zellner gunmaking family which originated in Salzburg, was admitted to the Vienna gunmakers' guild in 1690, and became master in 1695. He was one of the chief gunmakers to the Emperors Joseph I and Karl VI. The former Imperial collections in the Hofjagd- und Leibrüstkammer contain nearly one hundred firearms made by him
