With slightly belled three-stage barrels each signed 'Ed Nicholson Fecit' and engraved at the muzzle and breech with strawberry foliage (minor pitting), engraved tangs, signed rounded locks engraved with further strawberry foliage terminating in grotesque heads (one cock repaired, each top jaw and screw a working replacement), figured walnut full stocks each with raised apron around the barrel tang (minor defects, each an 18th Century working replacement), cast and chased mounts including pierced scrolling side-plates, and engraved spurred pommels with grotesque mask caps (worn, one trigger-guard later, both rear ramrod-pipes adapted), and horn-tipped ramrods probably contemporary with the stocks (engraving worn, some screws replaced), London proof marks, barrelsmith's mark of Edward 1 Nicholson
