Two English Silver-Encrusted Iron Rowel Spurs, One For A Child
Both early 17th Century
The first for the left foot and of characteristic angle-necked form, the heel-band retaining its original iron buckle and strap-attachments, and encrusted with fruit and foliage, the neck and five-pointed star-shaped rowel inlaid with silver dots; the second with straight heel-band with figure-eight terminals, short slightly downcurved neck, and small six-pointed rowel (the tip of two points missing), encrusted throughout with rosettes and negroid-like human faces
