Private William Masters served in the Crimea from July 1854 until July 1856, initially in Captain Ingliss' Company and latterly on Land Transport duties, appointments that further entitled him to the 'Alma' and 'Inkermann' clasps. Masters also served in the Lucknow operations during the Indian Mutiny.
