Lot Essay

Corporal Thomas Bennett was born in Eccleshall and enlisted in the Rifle Brigade in April 1847. Advanced to Corporal in November 1854, he is verified as being present in the Battles of the Alma and Inkermann, in addition the operations before Sebastopol. Bennett was slightly wounded in the first attack on the Redan on 18.6.1855 and died one week later.
