Manuscript on buff paper, 144ff. each with 24ll. of neat black naskh within gold clouds, punctuation in red, gold roundels within verses, gold and blue rules, margins illuminated with gold and polychrome floral meander, occasional rosettes and shikasteh commentary, sura headings in white on gold panels, opening finely illuminated polychrome and gold bifolio, penultimate folio with colophon signed Muhammad Ibrahim al-Qumi and dated Dhu'l Hijja 1105, generally good condition, edges of pages slightly worn, in floral lacquer binding on gold glitter ground, red and gold floral doublures, in later tan morocco slip case

Lot Essay

A note on the flyleaf by Prince Farhad, son of Fath 'Ali Shah, states that this Qur'an was given to him by Muhammad Shah Qajar on 6th Rabi 1255 AH.
