PERSIA, PROBABLY SHIRAZ, SECOND QUARTER 19TH CENTURY
Of inverted drop shape with lower acorn finial, a circular aperture above and socket for the pipe in the shoulder, the body with a main band of vertical panels of applied silver-thread lacework floral designs divided by vertical strips linking the upper and lower enamelled sections, each with a blue ground painted with gold floral designs around portrait cartouches alternating with floral cartouches, some damages to enamel, pipe socket crudely replaced

Lot Essay

The decoration around the body of this piece is most unusual. It appears from the spacing of the vertical straps that it is indeed original.
