The rectangular top with demi-lune ends and solid gallery above a pleated silk work-basket, on trellis filled end-supports joined by turned stretchers, on cabriole legs, minor restorations

Lot Essay

The Louis Seize fashioned tray-topped table relates to a 'Lady's Work Table' pattern in Thomas Sheraton's Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793, pl. 54. A related table, with trellis-fretted trestles, was sold by order of the Executors of Mrs Robert Tritton, Godmersham Park, Kent, Christie's house sale, 6-9 June 1983, lot 427.
