A GEORGE II ORMOLU-MOUNTED MAHOGANY MUSICAL BRACKET CLOCK
Signed John Blisbury, Berridge, London, circa 1730, the works and case probably associated
The white enamelled circular dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and pierced blued steel hands, foliate spandrals to each corner, a subsidiary dial for the days of the month, the enamelled signature band and a rolling penword moon sphere within a recess to the arched top, the bottom with Chime/Not Chime dial, the bottom right Song/Cavot/Hornpipe/Dance/ with musical selections the five-pillar triple-fusee movement with verge escapement, the quarter-hour striking music playing on ten bells via twelve hammers, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, the bell top with gilt-metal guilloche band and vasiform finials to each corner above a molded cornice and break arch glazed door flanked by canted corners with floral garland hung volute angle mounts, bail handles above a bird's eye maple panelled aperture door to each side, on a molded spreading base with elaborate scrolling feet, the bird's eye maple panels possibly replaced, lid lacking further brass element
