An Unusual 16-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun

With rebrowned twist two-stage barrel, turned girdle, and silver spider fore-sight, the octagonal breech section with gold-lined maker's stamp, six gold-lined decorative marks, gold-lined proof marks, and gold-lined touch-hole, engraved grooved tang, engraved flat bevelled lock signed on a ribbon and with stepped tail and large roller, figured walnut half-stock carved in relief with a shell behind the barrel tang (minor chips and bruises), chequered grip and fore-end with a dot in the centre of each diamond, engraved pierced iron trigger-guard and butt-cap each decorated with a bird, trigger-plate finial also with a bird, opposite the lock a coursing scene in silver (some wire missing), iron ramrod-pipes, and horn-tipped ramrod (fore-end cap missing), Birmingham proof marks
