The following year, Zhao was invited to a study trip to Scandinavia, during which a solo- exhibition was staged in Stockholm. In 1992, his work was included in the Art Exhibition of the 20th Anniversary of Sino-Japanese Diplomatic Relations. Meanwhile, he continued his study trip and travelled throughout Europe. He held another One-man show in Sweden and continued to paint whilst travelling. His work Girl in Studio was exhibited in the 1995 China Art Expo, and sold at Christie's the same year.
