En suite with the previous lot, painted with scenes after La Fontaine fables 'Le Milan et le Rossignol.' and 'Le Loup et la Cicogne.' named in black on the undersides

The image of The Wolf and the Stork is based on a design by Jean-Baptiste Oudry from a set of twelve decorative panels made for Louis Fragon circa 1724. It illustrates Book III, Fable IX from the Fables of Jean de la Fontaine. This oil-on-panel was sold Christie's, New York, 27 January 2000, lot 39.
