A KODANSU [MINIATURE CABINET]
Unsigned, Edo Period (Late 18th/Early 19th Century)
Gold nashiji ground; decorated with a mass of maple leaves in gold, silver and coloured hiramaki-e with gold foil; the base and interior gold nashiji; silver fittings

The three small rectangular drawers enclosed by a right-hinged door; the interior of the door decorated with the three children tipping a large jar from the Shiba Onko story and faces of the drawers ornamented with maple leaves; the top drawer fitted with three small tiered-box decorated with plum, pine and bamboo on a gold ground; silver fittings
