Captain Robert Stamer Audas, M.C., was born in January 1884 and was commissioned into the Army Veterinary Corps in February 1906. Attached to the Egyptian Army from October 1909, he went on to witness extensive service in the Sudan and was present in operations in Southern Kordofan in the following year; in Darfur in 1916, for which he was awarded the M.C. and Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 25.10.1916 refers); against the Lan Nuers in 1917; and the Nubas in the Nyima Hills between 1917-18. Audas resigned his Commission in October 1919.
